Sonia Noble
Director of Community Outreach
Sonia Noble is a retired Registered Nurse with extensive experience in clinical care, patient advocacy, and public health. Her distinguished career has been dedicated to advancing health equity and championing the needs of marginalized communities. At Ubuntu, Sonia serves as the Director of Community Outreach, acting as the primary liaison between the organization and the community. She excels at building trust, fostering partnerships with local stakeholders, and ensuring that programs are accessible, culturally sensitive, and responsive to real-world needs. Sonia's leadership is rooted in empathy, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to holistic wellness for seniors and vulnerable populations.
Norma Telfer
Director of Governance & Compliance
Norma Telfer is a seasoned governance specialist with a proven track record in policy development, regulatory compliance, and organizational risk management. Her expertise spans both the public and private sectors, where she has led policy committees, developed compliance frameworks, and ensured operational transparency. As Ubuntu's Director of Governance & Compliance, Norma is responsible for maintaining and updating bylaws, overseeing compliance and audit readiness, and leading the onboarding of new board members. Her dedication to ethical standards and best practices ensures that Ubuntu's mission is carried out with integrity and accountability.
Wendel Clarke
Finance Director (Treasurer)
Wendel Clarke is an accomplished Finance Director with over 20 years of senior project management and fiscal oversight experience in the financial sector. He specializes in strategic budgeting, portfolio management, and financial risk mitigation. At Ubuntu, Wendel directs all aspects of treasury management, applies project-based budgeting to maximize program impact, and collaborates with board members to ensure financial compliance and sustainability. His expertise enables Ubuntu to scale its operations responsibly, maintain rigorous financial controls, and deliver measurable results to the community.
Tresha Wallace
Executive Director
Tresha Wallace is a dedicated community leader and the founding Executive Director of Ubuntu Legacy Community Care. With over two decades of experience in healthcare and community engagement, Tresha's career began as a Registered Practical Nurse, specializing in bariatric and diabetes education. Her passion for empowering others led her to establish Diabetes Culture in 2020 and author the book 'Healthy Habits Healthy Life.' As Executive Director, Tresha brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, cultural sensitivity, and grassroots leadership to Ubuntu Legacy. She is deeply committed to improving the lives of Afro-Canadian and Caribbean seniors in Mississauga and Peel Region, addressing issues of isolation, health equity, and social connection through innovative, culturally relevant programs. Tresha's approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and a belief in the power of community. In addition to her healthcare background, Tresha is recognized for her skills in program development, workshop facilitation, and volunteer mobilization. She holds certification from the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO) in emergency medical handling and first aid. Her leadership is further distinguished by strong partnerships with local organizations, political leaders, and business sponsors, all working together to advance Ubuntu Legacy's mission: 'I Am Because We Are.'
Governance Structure
The Board of Directors, comprising the Director of Community Outreach, Director of Governance & Compliance, and Finance Director (Treasurer), provides strategic oversight and governance of Ubuntu Legacy Community Care. The Executive Director serves as the chief operating officer, managing day-to-day operations and implementing Board-approved policies.
